Each of Oakville’s neighbourhoods have a charm of its own but for those who love open spaces and a planned community layout, then Glen Abbey is certainly the perfect neighbourhood to live at. Get to know Glen Abbey below!

One of GTA’s First Planned Communities

Established in the early 1980s and with its first wave of construction peaking around 1990, Glen Abbey is a neighbourhood which is made more likable by it being the home of the Glen Abbey Golf Club. Not only that, but the community is also well known for established schools, a classic upscale suburban vibe, and the active lifestyle it fosters to its inhabitants. If you’re a family or simply someone who loves a more laid-back area but don’t want to sacrifice modern style and conveniences, you’ll fit right in at Glen Abbey.

A Golfer’s Paradise

Avid golfers flock to Glen Abbey’s golf course no matter if it’s just a normal day or when it is hosting the Canadian Open. In fact, notable golf personalities Vijay Singh, Lee Trevino, Greg Norman, and Tiger Woods all scooped up golf trophies at the Glen Abbey golf course.

Healthy Recreational Choices Awaits

Glen Abbey’s community centre is a well-loved hub frequented by Oakvillians this side of the town. The community centre is newly-renovated and features a gymnasium, a fitness gym, squash courts, and two hockey rinks – no wonder Oakville produces world-class hockey players! Other sports are not left us as well as outside the centre there are courts and fields for softball, basketball, baseball, and soccer.

The focus is not just on athleticism though, as the community have their very own branch of Oakville’s Public Library and also community rooms for conducting meetings and special classes.

As for nature lovers, there are miles and miles of walking and biking trails plus plenty of woodlands and ravines just waiting to be explored. Several parks are spread out all over Glen Abbey and the majority of them sports splash pads, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, and basketball courts.

A Community for Everyone

Over all, the community of Glen Abbey has a mix of 7 public and separate schools which are either a part of the Halton District School Board or are a part of the Halton Catholic District School Board. These are comprised of 5 elementary schools and 2 secondary schools. How’s that for fantastic school choices?

Families are the primary residents of the neighbourhood and they are mostly drawn by the amenities, facilities, and the types of housing available. The most sought after ravine lots are always a premium but one can find beautiful and cozy detached homes a great option too. Home prices are around $500,000 to $1,500,000 and the homes situated at the prestigious Fairway Hills Community can fetch as high as $3,000,000. Glen Abbey is also the home of the Delmanor Seniors Community

Of course the community won’t be able to keep its residents happy by just having good schools and great recreation facilities. People need to shop too! For that, there are two plazas, the former Town Centre which was recently renamed as Dorval Crossing and the equally loved Abbey Plaza.
