Some people love anything decadent, and food is no exception. With the number of millionaires and billionaires going on the rise and are ever so appreciative of new luxury items, luxury desserts are taking the world of opulence by a storm. Here are some of the world’s most expensive luxury desserts which the ultra-rich are craving for.
Decadence D’Or - A Cupcake for $750
If you can afford to wait 48 hours of waiting for a pricey cupcake, then you might want to try this $750 cupcake from Sweet Surrender from the sin city Las Vegas. Chef Olivier Dubreuil made this sinfully rich dessert with Tahitian Gold Vanilla Caviar and real edible gold. Presentations counts too, as it is served in a Fleur-delis made of hand blown sugar with some Louis XIII de Remy Martin Cognac.
Golden Opulence Sundae – Fancy Ice Cream for $1,000
Hailing from New York, Serendipity 3’s Golden Opulence Sundae is literally not your average sundae. The Golden Opulence is topped with edible real 23K gold leaf and some of the world’s most rare and expensive chocolates. But the ‘richness’ of this dessert starts from the ice cream itself. Made with 3 scoops of Madagascar vanilla beans infused Tahitian vanilla ice cream, a taste of this sundae via its 18K gold serving spoon must be really special. So far, only a few hundred people have ordered this special sundae since it was created in 2004 because of the needed 48 hours advance notice policy due to the fact that some ingredients needs to be flown in.
A Bagel for $1,000
No fancy names for this bagel, but it doesn’t make this any less special. Created by executive chef Frank Tujague and served at the Westin Hotel in the big apple, this bagel gets its price tag from goji- berry infused jelly and the white truffle cream cheese it come with.
Fortress Stilt Fisherman Indulgence Dessert for $14,500
Making it to our list all the way from Sri Lanka, this dessert is described to be reserved for those who have an adventurous heart. The Fortress Resort and Spa concocted this dessert to be made of some fruit infused irish ice cream making it into the gold leaf Italian cassata, some fruit compote, a base made with sabayon made with Dom Perignon champagne and a chocolate craving in the shape of a fisherman which is fully handcrafted. It does not end with all that, it also comes with 80 carats of aquamarine gemstone, no doubt to further dazzle those who’ve ordered this opulent dessert.
Frozen Haute Chocolate – Frozen Hot chocolate for $25,000
A Guinness World Record Holder for 2007, this frozen hot chocolate from New York City’s Serendipity 3 is the second item in our list from the same upscale restaurant. What makes this chocolate and milk slushy so special is the 24K gold mixed in the slushy itself as well as the toppings made of whipped cream and more gold. You’d need more than $25,000 to get a taste of this frozen hot chocolate from the gold serving spoon it comes with though. An advance notice of at least 2 weeks should be sent to the restaurant if you’re planning on sipping some golden chocolate slushy soon.
