With fall ushering in and the nippy bite of winter coming not long after that, let’s enjoy the last bits of summer in a celebration of culture via Culture Days at Oakville!
What is Culture Days
Culture Days is an event featuring a whole day of fun activities for all ages. The celebrations are open for everyone in Oakville and scheduled on Saturday, September 27 at the Queen Elizabeth Community and cultural Centre. Whether you may be into dance, music, or family-friendly entertainment, everyone is invited to join and participate.
Why Join Culture Days?
Culture Days is aimed to raise awareness, participation, accessibility and engagement of community members in their respective communities. The event is created for Canadians as a response and acknowledgement that stable and healthy societies are partly because of a vibrant culture and arts sector in the midst of it.
5 Must See and Must Join Events
The full day of exciting activities begins at 9:30am and culminates at 4pm, with theatre performances, drawing workshops, and other surprises. Below is a list of must-see events:
Peter Pan Theatre Performance (11am and 2pm) – Free tickets to watch a theatre performance of Peter Pan by Duffle Bag Theatre is definitely an incentive to watch this awesome tale live! Tickets are limited to a first come-first served basis and can be claimed for free an hour at the Black Box Theatre before each scheduled performance.
Culture Days: Anyone Can Draw (11am to 12pm) – For everyone 18 years old and above who loves to draw or would want to learn how to draw, this is your chance! Preregistration is needed and the program is quite strict as you cannot show up late, but you still try to join or watch the event as well.
Culture Days: Intro to Photoshop (1pm-2pm) – Another popular event to join for those who are 18 years old and above, the intro to photoshop will teach participants the basics of how to tweak photos and enhance images. It may be too late for you to join as this activity often has a long list participants and the facilitator can only accommodate a few for the class; but it is always great to know that you can avail of something like this especially if you love any graphic manipulation and creation.
Culture Days: Throw it! (2pm-3pm) – In-love with pottery and been forever wanting to get your hands on some clay (literally)? Then if you are 18 and above, you can join Throw It! The online registration is only until September 25 but you can still participate by coming in early at 9:30 am and signing-up on-site to avail of limited slots.
Culture Days: Digital Discoveries - Children's Workshop – For an enjoyable parent and child activity for children 7 years old and above who can be accompanied by a parent, Digital Discoveries is something you shouldn’t miss.
