Giving your Oakville home that special curb appeal will draw buyers in and help you sell the property for list price and up. Buyers want to be able to look at a house and think of all the possibilities that it holds for them. You’ll want to show them possibilities and beauty; it’s not as hard as it sounds and you won’t even have to hire a professional staging team to get the professional staging look for your property. If you want to know how to give your home that special curb appeal, keep reading!
The Grass is Always Greener
Green lawns and flowers in the front yard can go a long way towards ensuring that your home comes off in a great way. You don’t need to run out and buy up $10,000 worth of shrubbery from Home Depot, but you should invest in your lawn. If you don’t have time to sew seed for grass and let it grow, try clover. Clover is great, grows quickly and with many different colours and textures to choose from it can make your home the most appealing on the block. Flowers are also a great way to spruce up the front of your home, and you can create flowerbeds with brick. Just make it pretty and people will flock to it.
Time for a Good Scrubbing
Power washing your windows, paths and the exterior of your home is an excellent idea to increase curb appeal. You should start with windows in the front and work your way around; cleaning the windows should be done one day before the showing. You’ll also want to wash down the exterior of the home, patios, decks, porches and gutters. Everything needs to be pristine before someone comes by for a viewing, and it shouldn’t just be the front of the house or what’s viewable from the curb. Make sure you go around to the rear of the property and clean the windows, gutters, exterior (siding, brick, etc.); buyers will want to go around the sides of the home to see what everything looks like. Paths are also important, as well as fences.
Put the Curb in Curb Appeal
Curb appeal is important but there’s a reason it’s called curb appeal; you want people who are driving by to see your for sale sign, take notice and stop and look at the house. A clean, well maintained happy looking house is going to draw in people more than Oakville real estate with a bad paint job. Even with an Oakville real estate agent you need to attract people to come by and look at your property, and hopefully to bid on it.
So you need to do three things to bring people in to look at your Oakville home for sale: green yards and happy flowerbeds catch the eye. Power wash the exterior of the home, windows and gutters for that nice clean feeling, then stand back and wait for them to come.
