It’s easy to not only forget about how important the entrance of your home is, but you can just as easily get carried away with it. Your entrance needs to not only welcome people in to your Oakville home for sale but it should also give them a teaser of what’s to come. It doesn’t need to be an overwhelming home selling machine, but it does need to help people understand what they’re walking into. If you have some unusual decorating choices throughout the rest of your home, you’re going to want to take a ‘lil break from being quirky in your entrance.
Clean and Clutter Free
One of the first things you’ll have to do is make sure your entryway is clean and clutter free. You don’t want it too empty but you also don’t want to cluttered. Nothing like trying to find that fine balance between good and bad! You’ll want to keep as much off the floor as possible and give everything a nice new coat of paint before showings start. You might be tempted to put a lot of pictures and art on the walls, but choose carefully. You don’t want to creep people out with a million happy strangers greeting them when they step inside.
Depersonalize the Area
The key to staging any Oakville real estate will always come down to depersonalization. You’re presenting a home that could be, not a home that is. You want to give them a stripped down perfect vision of what they could make this home be for them. That means you need to remove any bills from the foyer, personal items from the bathroom, anything too loud that might scare them off (like mentioned earlier if you have unique design tastes the foyer is not the place to show it). When you work with us as your Oakville realtor we’ll be able to help you figure out how to put your best face forward.
Make it Domestic
Making it domestic is one of the best things you can do. If you’re the kind of person that just doesn’t pay attention to the tiny design details in their home, that’s okay! You will want to at least consult with a home staging expert so you know the potential and the styles that people are looking for. It’s amazing what a little work in your foyer can do when you’re trying to sell your Oakville real estate – but make sure you get a consult before you start!
Don’t Forget the Lighting
So many people forget the importance of lighting. You don’t have to put in a chandelier but you do need to have strategic lighting to guide the prospective buyer’s gaze through the room. It might be a good time to spring for some bright CFLs, but it will really depend on the area where your Oakville homes for sale happen to be. Some buyers will be more energy conscious while others might want to be able to navigate their way through the home on a grey wintery day.
