Mystery Buyer Joins the Billionaire’s Row

The luxurty penthouse, which was sold last December is said to be 10,923 square feet and spans two of One57’s top floors, the 89th and the 90th. Prior to this sale, the record for NYC’s most expensive home was for the $88 million 15 Central Park West penthouse which was bought by Ekaterina Rybolovleva, the daughter of the Russian fertilizer tycoon Dimitry Rybolovleva. This new record beats that one by a huge margin and is twice the price of the previous most expensive property on One57 which was sold for $56.1 million last year to Silas Chou, the former chair of Michael Kors Corp. There is another sale on the same building for a $90 million duplex but that sale has not hit public records as of yet.

One57 was one of the first luxury residential towers to be built on what is now referred to as the ‘Billionaire’s Row’ and is a neighbor to other prestigious towers such as 432 Park Avenue – which is also the tallest residential tower in the western hemisphere and wherein luxury homes goes for as high as $95 million.

It also sports 23-foot-floor-to-ceiling windows.

You might be thinking that all the above features sounds a bit sparse for the price paid for the luxury home but then, you have to remember that this penthouse is located at the famous New York Billionaire’s Row. In fact, another penthouse nearby is on the market for $130 million. We’ll just have to see how long this luxurious penthouse stays on the top of the priciest of New York’s residential real estate.

More on One57

The penthouse is one of one57’s 26 units sold, which makes the tower very exclusive as the first 39 floors of the building will be occupied by the Park Hyatt Hotel. There are only 95 units of condos and penthouses comprising the rest of the building. Residents will have their own entrance and elevator which is separate from the hotel’s. Every resident will also have access to an exclusive in-room dining and catering service, cleaning service, concierge, spa, and in-room spa service. The tower was designed by Christian de Portzamparc and was artistically made to look like a cascading waterfall.
