Once again this year, The Goodale Miller Team took part in the annual Oakville Half Marathon while raising money for and sponsoring a great cause in The Lighthouse Foundation.

A couple years ago, we were deeply affected by the loss of one of our employees daughter’s  friends father to a tragic motorcycle accident.  At this time we were introduced to a local organization called The Lighthouse for Grieving Children.  Lighthouse is a fantastic cause that throws a much needed lifeline to children, teenagers and their families when one of theirs has passed away.  They do this by helping rebuild young lives after the death of a mother, father, brother or sister. Through Lighthouse programs, children and teens feel permitted to grieve with others in similar situations and learn to adjust to their “new normal” and, in time, recover living life to their full potential.

Lighthouse is creating a community of support and renewed hope and courage within Oakville and the Halton and Peel region. Serving over 175 families each year and growing, it is our goal to help support this great cause for years to come.

With support from dedicated fundraisers and the Oakville community, Lighthouse had raised over $45,000 this year at the time of the marathon, exceeding their goal of $40,000. Although, the fundraising challenge is a success, Lighthouse still requires continued support throughout the year to meet the growing challenges it faces.

Looking to support Lighthouse and help grieving families in our community?  Please visit the Lighthouse sponsorship page here and help change the lives of these families in need. Lighthouse is a registered charity and you will receive a tax receipt for your donation.

The Lighthouse foundation is just one of several charities being supported by the Oakville Half Marathon. This major community event also helps other great causes including the Oakville Hospital Foundation, the YMCA of Oakville, Kerr Street Ministries, Reach for the Rainbow, Canadian Diabetes Association and many more. To help support these other great causes or to sign up for next years marathon and become a fundraiser, please visit the Oakville Half Marathon website at
