If you’re buying a brand new condo (not a resale) as your piece of luxury real estate, Oakville has a lot to offer… but you still need to be careful and make sure you’re getting what you’re paying for. A lot can happen in a few years from the planning stage to completion and you’re going to want to know what you think you’re buying is what you’re actually buying. Here we’re going to go over a few things you’ll want to watch out for before you buy, so let’s go ahead and get started.

The Ten Day Rule

Ten days after you receive the information on your condo (rules, size, build information), you won’t be able to back out. But before that, you’re going to have as much time as you need to decide. If you find anything (go to a lawyer!) before then, don’t hesitate to back out. You have those ten days for a reason, and everything in the condo information sheet and agreements should help you figure out if this is the right luxury real estate for you. Some Oakville luxury condo developers are going to be better to deal with – and that’s where we come in. Don’t do this without us, the Oakville luxury realtors you can trust.

Talk to a Lawyer

Like mentioned earlier, you’re going to have to talk with your lawyer and let them mull over the agreement as soon as you get it. Buying a condo is a big deal and you don’t want to end up with a home that isn’t what it’s supposed to be or even worse, a community you hate. It’s easy for these kinds of things to turn ugly, so why wait? Talk to a lawyer and see if this is the right kind of deal for you. As your realtor we can help advise you on the specifics of a home, but we can’t give you legal advice!

Know the Rules Before You Buy

Don’t be afraid to inquire specifically about things that really matter to you. What are the rules regarding large or small pets? What if you need an extra parking space? How is security handled? Do they have secondary elevators? What are the things that matter to you? When you figure that out, you’ll be able to find the right luxury condo in Oakville for you. With so many to choose from, it’s important to really get down to what matters the most to you.

Everyone wants a great home – make sure you take those 10 days after you bid to really know what you’re getting. Working with a lawyer is going to help you get the most out of your next home, but working with us as your Oakville luxury realtor is going to make sure that you avoid the bad developers and weird situations altogether!
