With 3 Canadian cities making it to the top 5 of The Economist Intelligence Unit’s list of the world’s most livable cities for 2014, there is no doubt that Canada is one of the best countries to live in.
Canada’s Perfect Scores
The 2014 EUI list is a reflection of the previous few years with Canadian cities being a familiar fixture on the index of the best places to live in; thanks to its perfect 100 scores when it comes to healthcare, stability and education which secured it 3 spots in the top 5 as compared to 140 other cities around the world.
The Top 5 Most Livable Cities in the World
Below are the top 5 Most Livable cities in the world according to how they scored on EUI’s index:
- 5th and 6th Place – Adelaide, Australia and Calgary, Canada
Calgary and Adelaide had a tie in the 5th place of The Economist Intelligence Unit’s list (they are counted as numbers 5 and 6 but shared the same score). Calgary scored a bit higher than Adelaide in terms of economic stability but scored a tad lower for environment and culture, hence, the tie.
- 4th Place – Toronto, Canada
Dubbed as the Dubai of North America, with soaring skyscrapers and chic urban appeal all over the city, Toronto is on this year’s list again, just like before. Aside from having great economic stability, education and healthcare, Toronto whizzed past other cities on the list on the culture front, making it a great choice for those who are into urban-vibe living.
- 3rd Place – Vancouver, Canada
If you’re after the great outdoors, gorgeous views, yachts and fresh air, then you will love living in the 3rd placer of the EUI Most Livable Cities list for 2014. Vancouver brings forth together the best elements of how the Pacific Northwest and Hollywood would feel if they were to have a child, making Vancouver a top choice for those who like living amidst a mix of glitz and glamour together with business-like appeal and sense of stability.
- 2nd Place – Vienna Austria
The birthplace of musical legends and some of the greatest artists of all time, Vienna has not lost its old world charm and status as evidenced by the city ranking as the 2nd Most Livable City despite the European financial crisis. Vienna’s strength lies in the city’s political stability, culture and environment.
- 1st Place - Melbourne, Australia
With great infrastructure, awesome climate and a highly respected education system all scoring perfect 100s, it is no wonder that Melbourne is at the top of the list. The competition is tough though, with the top 5 cities only separated by mere decimal points. For those who want to live in a western country located in the Eastern hemisphere, Melbourne surely wins hands down!
