Q & A with Brad Miller

How long have you been in the Real Estate Industry?

I’ve been in the Real Estate business for over 20 years, 17 as a Team leader and over 3 years as an Office Manager focused on, agent training and expanding marketing and sales initiatives for Century 21 Miller.

Why Real Estate?

The Real Estate industry has always been in my blood. I grew up working for my father, Bill Miller, Broker/Owner of Century 21 Miller for over 50 years. He put me to work in the office when I was still a kid, emptying garbage cans and vacuuming the offices of Realtors. As well, my degree in Urban planning and an undergrad in philosophy helped set me on a career path towards becoming a Realtor.

After I became a Broker, Don Goodale, a long-time friend of the family and Number #1 Agent in the office for years, and I decided to put a team together. We are both of like-minded philosophy believing it is beneficial to have a clear, successful, innovative Real Estate marketing plan in place based on market exposure, professionalism and integrity.

What is your Philosophy?

Tell people what they need to hear, not necessarily what they may want to hear, so that in the end they can make good business decisions. It is so simple to always do right by people; if you do, everything else will fall into place.

You’ve been in the industry for over 18 years what is your greatest struggle?

It’s personal to me, not just a business, so I find myself internalizing our clients’ worries. It’s always my focus to ensure that people have an easy transition whether they are selling or buying; and in so doing I tend to build personal relationships with clients and worry about making sure they are doing the right thing at the right time.

So what do you like most about the industry?

The friendships that I have formed with clientele are very special to me.

There’s a real sense of accomplishment when everything clicks and knowing the job is done right, it means I have helped make my clients lives easier

What’s the biggest benefit of working with a team?

Our team is unified in our value system, to do the best for our clients always and to guide them in the decision making process effectively so they make the right decision at the right time. With multiple team members focused on the listings, in touch with their network and in tune with what is going on in the market means clients are getting the best service possible. Real Estate is a 24/7 job and with a team that means there is always someone available.

It’s great having the resources and knowledge of the team as a sounding-board for marketing strategies and for sharing information. It’s a two-way street that makes this successful. We pass information on and are always on the look-out to try and help all the team members.

What does living in Oakville mean to you?

I was born and raised in Oakville and have a solid history in the area. I’ve grown with Oakville and witnessed how it has transitioned and changed over the years.

I’m proud to raise my family here and am glad that I can now act in a way to give back philanthropically to the community that I call home.


We recently used Brad Miller and his team for the sale of our house in Joshua Creek and are delighted to provide the following testimonial of Brad and his team.  I initially invited Brad to pitch his credentials to represent us in the sale of our house for two reasons 1) Brad and his team are well known in Oakville, highly successful and appear to be “in the flow” especially with respect to real estate transactions at the mid to high end of the price point range, and 2) because my family had had prior successful dealings with the GoodaleMiller Team and were very happy with the outcome.  

Having said that, given that our property was somewhat unique in that it was a premium property located in a new neighbourhood with limited precedent transactions, I knew that determining the right market / asking price was going to be a challenge (it was apparent that our property was going to set a new precedent in the area) and, as a result, I decided to meet with several agents to determine which would be best suited to represent us.  

We called the usual suspects in the Oakville market and, to be honest, I was expecting them all to be pretty close with respect to their views, insight and approach.  Surprisingly they weren’t.  Brad was by far the most prepared prior to our meeting (he was the only one to ask to come and see the house first before coming to a view on pricing strategy – the only one!)  All the others simply did a quick walk through at the beginning of the meeting and then began to tell me about how they would market our property.  When I asked them to provide a view on pricing they said it was really going to depend on other similar transactions in the area.  One highly recognized and productive agent was adamant that there was no way we could expect to get more than what had already been achieved in our neighbourhood (he turned out to be wrong by nearly $200K).  The others were very hesitant to go much above the precedent high.  But Brad was adamant and was able to demonstrate that we could get a new high in the area (perhaps not as high as my wishful thinking but certainly quite a bit higher than what had been achieved).  In the end, Brad proved to be right.  We got very close to asking (I believe it was 99%) and the process went smoothly and, more importantly, very quickly.

When it comes to the quality of marketing material and access to potential buyers, Brad and his team are as good if better than the other well known agents in Oakville.  However, his understanding of the market and pricing certainly proved to be better than the rest (and at the end of the day, that’s one of the most important considerations – to maximize the value of the property).  Overall we are very happy we went with Brad and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to other prospective sellers. ~J.P.
